The doctor was by again today. Things are progressing very quickly now. She suggested that we consider letting close friends know about the situation and perhaps allowing limited visits. My husband’s breathing is the problem. The pneumonia is shutting him down. Despite all the meds he is on he is declining rapidly. I suspect he has made his own decision but he is too weak and tired to talk about it at this point.
We continue to surround him with love and laughter. We don’t know what time we have left as a family but we will cherish every minute. So in the next couple of days I will try to have those people he loved and valued as friends come through if they wish. It’s hard to watch but would be even harder if he was completely secluded at this time.
As he always used to say when ending a letter – love and peace – and that’s exactly what he has earned in his lifetime.
