Just an update on the post chemo progress for my husband. The fatigue is very, very real. He is extremely tired, which is difficult for an active, energetic person like him. Today we had a follow up appointment at the Cancer Clinic with the radiology oncologist to see how he was faring after the radiation for his bone cancer. She was very pleased with his vitals, his blood pressure, hydration, heart beat, temperature, weight and overall appearance were deemed to be more than satisfactory at this time. We were dreading this appointment since it was to determine if more radiation is required. So it was great news when we were told that unless something changes, such as a the development of a new pain or a significant amount of blood in the phlegm, the radiologist now considered my husband to be under the care of the medical oncologist for treatment of the lung cancer.
This was awesome news, so we decided to go someplace for a lunch out even though he is at a low level with respect to his immune system. We opted for a nice outdoor café which was relatively empty (sanitized everything in sight with the wet wipes I carry) and settled in for a lovely meal on the patio. This completely tuckered him out, but it is a very contented man having a nap right now. There is no news like good news. Next week we are back at the hospital for the second round of chemotherapy. At least he has one round under his belt and now knows what to expect for the second one.
